If you’re looking for Minneapolis dog friendly hikes, you’re in the right spot!
I’m always on the search for a next great adventure and have had a hard time finding full details about the park and trail systems in Minneapolis and Minnesota. If I’m going to take a trip to a state park, I want to know what to expect as it’s likely a drive, and with a reactive Great Dane, I want to make sure my drive is worth it.
Below are some of our favorite spots, listed in order of distance from the metro area! This will be ever growing so feel free to circle back often, or let me know where you’ve been so I can add it to our calendar of adventures!
Each link will take you to my full review of the park, the views, and what you need to know when it comes to dog friendly hikes!
Minnehaha Off Leash Dog Park
Minneapolis, MN-- just south of the heart of Downtown Minneapolis. This spot is a not so hidden gem. I know it's not a typical hiking spot but definitely something worth checking out! The river walk is amazing.
Willow River, Hudson WI
Hudson, WI-- East of the Twin Cities, 30-40 minutes. Seriously stunning! The water falls at Willow River are the most beautiful. This spot is awesome for a quick day trip!
Interstate State Park
Taylors Falls, MN-- Northeast of the Twin Cities about 60 minutes. We weren't prepared for what Interstate State Park had to offer. The insane rock climbing, the cliffs, and a boat tour of the river! Another quick getaway with gorgeous views.
Banning State Park
Sandstone, MN-- North of the Twin Cities about 90 minutes. This hiking trail with beautiful views the entire way is the perfect city escape without having to go too far north.
